Onion and garlic baskets are a nice open weave basket. They are surprisingly sturdy given their open and airy appearance. I like varying the "braid" of the rims and rarely repeat a pattern exactly, giving each basket a bit of individuality.

These are handmade, freeform - no molds used - so shape and size can vary quite a lot. I'm currently working on some additional baskets, custom orders and such. I hope to have a photo or two with some visible indication of size (some onions, a ruler?) up soon.

These two specific baskets are NOT available (they have been sold).

I can make something similar, but not identical, if these appeal to you. Other dyed colors are available.

Garlic and Onion baskets

Natural round reed garlic basket approx. 6" high. Will hold 3-4 large heads of garlic (Elephant garlic) or shallots, small onions, etc.

"Space dyed" onion basket approx. 10" high. Yellows, Oranges, Browns. Will hold 10-12 small to medium onions or myriad other objects.

Some customers use the larger basket to hold guest towels in a powder room. The smaller basket holds decorative soaps nicely. Baskets are wonderful object. Use your imagination!

NOTES:
There have been some folk who would like to use the onion (or a size just between these two pictured above) to hold utensils in their kitchen — specifically wooden utensils.

If you contact me for a special order and think you would like to make use of this basket in that fashion PLEASE let me know. The standard weave is an open bottom, just slightly tighter than the sides, but I can tighten that up so your handles don't slide through if you put them in handle first.
